Located in an old manufacturing building in the West Loop area of Chicago, this 16,000 square foot new office and Call Center was finished in 2011. The office is the central nervous system for their new online catalog and consists of a mixture of open workstations, closed glass meeting rooms, a linear open café lounge and two central training rooms acting as the spine of the project. The call center portion of the job required innovative thinking about sound dampening and wire management since the ceiling needed to be exposed and all existing surfaces in the space were concrete. The cost effective design solution employed by OAO involved a custom layout of sound baffles in the ceiling and a raised and carpeted floor.
